Currently campgrounds have few, if any, sites available daily leading up to the eclipse. Camping is only allowed in designated park campgrounds and in the backcountry with a valid permit. Available area lodging info can be found here.
The Gros Ventre Campground is the closest campground to the town of Jackson. Surrounded by cottonwood trees, bordered by the Gros Ventre River, and with views of the Grand Teton Mountain Range, this campground is truly magnificent!
Gros Ventre has just over 300 individual campsites and five large group sites. Every site is different ranging from wooded to sunny and nestled among trees. Sites vary in size and can accommodate RVs up to 45ft. Thirty-six sites have electricity, 10 of which are ADA compliant with and adjacent restroom. There are two loops that do not allow generators and one loop that only allows tents.
All campsites include a picnic table, a fire pit, and parking for one RV or two cars. Nearby bathrooms include flush toilets and cold running water. Shower facilities are located in the surrounding area but not on site.
Individual campsites are available on a first come, first served basis. Campsites typically fill 12-5pm mid-June to mid-August and rarely fill outside that time frame. The maximum stay permitted is 14 nights.
Group campsites are available for groups of 10 or more, and mainly accommodate tent camping. Group sites can be reserved in advance starting on January 2nd of each year.
